The wait if officially over! Brooklyn Water Bagel Company is now open at the corner of Kennedy and Dale Mabry in South Tampa. The regional chain is very popular in South Florida and now we here in Tampa get to enjoy the result of the chains special ‘proprietary water filter system bagel making technique’. The system mimics Brooklyn’s municipal water treatment/filter process and we have to agree, makes some of the best bagels around.
The star of the show at Brooklyn Water Bagel Company is, you guessed it, bagels. They even have the whole bagel making process on display. You pass by the mixing station as you wait in line and you just might see them going from the boiling kettle to the oven (like we did). We really like the sleek, modern look of the space too.
The restaurant concept is fast casual, with front counter ordering and for dine-in, food is brought right to your table. The menu focuses on the bagel with all different flavors, with our favorite being Asiago. Breakfast consists of bagel sandwiches with egg, meat and cheese or omelettes with hash browns. Lunch brings deli sandwich favorites, all on bagels. Don’t forget the Iced Coffee as its on tap (how cool huh) and you even get ‘coffee iced cubes’ to combat a diluted beverage issue.
Service was quick and we were impressed by the knowledgable and friendly service so close to the opening date. Hats off to the management team for some great training skills.
Omelette with bacon and pepper jack cheese, served with hash browns and Asiago bagel. Freshly made and still hot, we both were impressed at the portion and quality. The bagel was lightly toasted and was probably one of the best in Tampa. The hash browns were of the frozen variety. But rounded out the meal. You can also sub out the potatoes for sliced tomato to keep the calories down a bit. 🙂
The Bushwick – Bagel sandwich with jalapeño, pepper jack cheese, avocado salsa and egg. This is one big sandwich and is sure to fill you up. Everything was fresh and the bagel did shine through and was the star.
