Carmel Kitchen Wine Bar in South Tampa /Palma Ceia is bringing some cool technology into the dining experience.
With a very cool vibe, you can bring the gang for happy hour and have a great time finding some great appetizers and drink specials in the bar area.
The main dining area shares the cool vibe, but is also is great for a quiet relaxing meal (with the same happy hour specials).
The outside patio dining was also really cool and faced the parking lot and not the busy road.
When you are seated at Carmel Kitchen Wine Bar, the host brings an iPad which is both the menu and how you place your food & drink orders. Our server was great and gave us a short walk though on how to use the iPad system and it was a snap. It’s actually a fun way of to order and we found ourselves clicking away in no time. Prices are reasonable and menu items allow for a good variety. We had a free flatbread coupon for signing up for their loyalty program, so that was first on our list. One thing to note is that food comes out fast, so if you use the iPad ordering system, make sure to space out your appetizers and entrees.
Grilled Lemon Chicken & Artichoke Flatbread ($8.99…FREE with coupon).
Fontina, arugula, lemon Parmesan aioli. The crust was thin and crisp and we liked the fresh favors of the toppings. The candied lemon peel was unique and brightened up the whole dish.
Calamari & Shrimp ($5.00 special price for happy hour). With capers, saffron aioli and sweet Thai chili. The perfect size and just the right amount of capers and Thai chili sauce. Another fresh dish perfect for two people to share.
Lobster Risotto ($14.99). The presentation was really cool with some kind of basil oil drizzled around the golden mound of risotto.
The broth was rich and loaded with fresh seafood flavor and the lobster meat on top was a nice touch. While you don’t get lobster in every bite, the flavor is spot on and the rice was cooked perfectly.
Rustic Grilled Chicken (small size) with added Caesar salad ($8.99 entree + $4.00 salad). The salad was crisp and fresh with a vibrant Caesar dressing. We really liked the quality of the food and everything really was on point.
The chicken was breast tenderloin grilled and lightly seasoned. Not overlooked, they were still juicy and a great healthy choice. The roasted vegetables were full of flavor and definitely not an afterthought in the kitchen.
