Cody’s Original Roadhouse is one of our favorites in The Villages’ Brownwood Town Square. Cody’s Original Roadhouse is housed in a custom built building and looks really cool on the outside.
A large outdoor patio and bar sits in the back and out front they have cool old fashioned gas pumps, trucks and all kinds of classic memorabilia.
When you step through the front door, you notice they didn’t skimp on the theme or imagination.
An old repurposed washing machine near the hostess stand is now a bin that holds complimentary peanuts.
The large garage doors on the side wall were closed, but do add to that rustic feel and there are so many things hanging on the walls you will see a new item on every visit.
The show ‘American Pickers’ came to mind.
Cody’s specializes in hand trimmed steaks and the menu is sure to please any steak lover. The menu is really large with all kinds of categories.
We stuck to the lunch specials section and I also received am email for a free appetizer (Tip-sign up online for their email offers).
It was also happy hour, which means 2-4-1 beers. They actually bring out both beers at once, which meant eight glasses on our table. 🙂
Our sever was really friendly and nice and the pace of service started out quick.
We did notice that it seemed to slow a bit after our appetizer, but we were all catching up and talking so we didn’t mind.
All of our food came out hot and fresh out of the kitchen.
Jumbo Onions on a Stick ($7.28 – FREE with my coupon). These were some big onion rings! Stacked high on a stick, just as the menu promised and still quite hot from the fryer, we dug in.
The panko breading was very crisp and these didn’t seem to be greasy at all. The onion inside was sweet and meaty and the dipping sauce was the perfect horseradish/mustard combo.
Sweet Yeast Rolls (Included with meal). I had to give these awesome rolls their own section. They were freshly baked and so hot you couldn’t pick them up at first. Once you bite in, you realize they are soft like pillows and slightly sweet.
They are served with a side of cinnamon butter that is also amazing and almost good enough to eat off of a spoon! These are truly addictive and a must when you visit.
Cody’s Luncheon Roadhouse Salad (Included with Lunch Entrees) – they mix the salad table side and it was chilled and very fresh.
The dressing seemed to be a light buttermilk that we both liked. They even leave the bowl with some extra salad which Jeff finished off.
8 oz. Top Sirloin Lunch Entree ($12.98). This was a pretty good steak grilled to a perfect medium temperature. It was slightly charred to give it some extra flavor and was very tender.
I chose a baked potato for my side and enjoyed it as well. Butter and sour cream came on the side as ordered and the potato was crusted with some salt.
Prime Rib Lunch Entree ($10.98). Jeff was very happy to see the Prime Rib on he lunch menu and couldn’t pass it up. It was a actually quite a big piece and it was perfectly medium rare.
While there was a few fatty areas, they were easy to avoid and the rest was spot on. He liked it and it satisfied his Prime Rib fix (for now at least). The loaded baked potato didn’t disappoint either. You can even see the salt on the outside of the potato. LOVE THAT.
French Dip ($9.48). Mom & Dad both like the French Dip here and today wasn’t any different. It’s a nice sized portion with a tasty aus jus.
It seems you can’t go wrong with any beef here at Cody’s.
Caesar Beef Wrap ($6.98). Another favorite of Mom & Dad and something I haven’t seen anywhere else. Mom liked it a lot and even had half to take home for later. The fries were fresh as well.
Cody’s Original Roadhouse really delivers on the value and quality and it’s easy to see why it’s a favorite in The Villages.
With these lunch portions so big, I’m sure that will continue to be a regular stop for us in The Villages.
Cody’s Original Roadhouse is located inside the Brownwood Town Square at 3731 Meggison Rd Wildwood (The Villages), FL 34785.
