Del Frisco’s Grille Tampa is one of the most popular Happy Hour Spots in Tampa’s Westshore District across from International Plaza. Happy Hour specials are available only in the bar areas, one downstairs and one upstairs on the very cool patio. We didn’t partake in the Happy Hour festivity since we were more interested in trying Del Frisco’s Grille for dinner.
We made reservations ahead, as this place can get very busy on Friday evenings. Del Frisco’s Grille Tampa is very modern looking and the downstairs consists of a large bar area and an open dining room. We had requested a booth upstairs on the much talked about patio and we were immediately seated.
It was a cooler night, so the heaters were on and created the perfect temperature. The patio is actually very comfortable and provides a nicer than expected view, with some office buildings and Boy Scout Road. It was buzzing with Happy Hour patrons, but not loud, which was very enjoyable.
Del Frisco’s Grille Tampa service was friendly and prompt and our server was quick to give some menu suggestions. The menu spans appetizers/shared plates, flatbreads, sandwiches and entrees. It’s an interesting menu with some unique items that call for a return visit to try.
Fish & Chips ($20.00 Daily Dish Special) – The plating on the dish was kind of cool, with a mini catsup bottle for the fries. The large piece of fish was fresh, but the batter could have been a little more crisp.
The fries were fresh, but we were expecting maybe a different twist to ordinary fries. We both liked the fresh tartar sauce that had to be house made.
Steakhouse Salad ($19.00) – Broiled Prime Sliced Steak, Deviled Egg, Crunch Cress, Avocado, Bacon, Parmesan, Blue Cheese, Lemon-Horseradish Dressing. The star of the dish was the steak, hands down. The steak was cooked perfectly to order and was tender and juicy.
We both really liked the salt and pepper crust on the outside, with just the right balance. The greens were fresh and the deviled egg was also a hit. The bacon stood out as well, as being high quality and packed with a rich smoky/salty flavor.
The greens were fresh and a nice mix, but we felt that the dressing lacked a horseradish punch.
Del Frisco’s Grille Tampa is a place to be seen and you can also get some great tasting food too. Happy Hour is a must and you can also find some menu items that are budget friendly. The menu offers ‘Daily Specials’ that offer a discount on selected dishes Monday – Friday. We highly recommend trying the steak when you visit Del Frisco’s Grille Tampa, it left a lasting great impression on us. Del Frisco’s Grille Tampa is located at 4138 W Boy Scout Blvd, Tampa, FL 33607
